About Me

Hello! Welcome to my blog called Dear Anxious Teacher! My name is Mr. Greg, and I have been teaching for 15 years. Before I get started further introducing myself, this blog was never written to exercise my ego or to say that my philosophy on teaching is 100% correct. If you know a true expert, please let me know. I believe, maybe, by the end of our careers, we can say that we have become the best versions of ourselves in the classroom. This website is 100% dedicated to providing uplifting content to make teachers feel good about their profession. So many of us start out feeling unprepared, clueless, and need a jolt of positivity to keep us moving through the long months of teaching. I remember surviving weekly just to get to a Friday for the anxiety wave to hit on Sunday.
I want you to feel positive, good about this profession, and to offer support to those who started out like me. Teaching is a way to impact those in the classroom in a positive way, and this website is my way to impact you in the classroom for the better. Negative vibes and feelings, I want you to leave behind. Teaching can be a very enjoyable profession. It can truly be a passion. A lot of my blogs are written to help you navigate the classroom with different scenarios and situations that often present stress to us at times. My advice is to always try some of these techniques out and see what happens. Test all of this content here and take what you can or what you find useful. Question it, but also be a tester of it.
Who am I? I am a special education English teacher from New York. I am a dad of two boys in my early 40’s. My experiences in teaching include the following: NYC, BOCES, and public schools. I have worked in out-of-district settings with those with moderate to severe disabilities. From changing diapers on students to teaching Regents-level classes, I feel I now have the confidence to help somebody who is struggling in this field.
Besides my career as a teacher, I coach baseball, teach religion, drive my boys to their sports practices, and enjoy cooking. I am a wisdom chaser, a meditator, a son of God, and maybe just an old soul/light worker. My passion is really just to make a difference and make people feel good (students/coworkers). My goal here is to impact more people and bring positivity to your day aka good vibes. I appreciate you visiting my site. Please come back when you can to check out my blogs.
Always the best,
Mr. Greg
